Job summary

A leading supplier in the agricultural sector is seeking a Despatch Controller based in Gauteng. You will manage despatch processes, supervise loading operations, and coordinate delivery schedules. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in warehouse operations, possess a Grade 12 certificate, and be proficient in Afrikaans and English. Competitive working hours from 07:00 to 16:30.

Job Description

Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting. The following position has become available for a Despatch Controller, based in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to ensure that all despatches are executed promptly and efficiently in line with customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Despatch Management
  • Supervise all loading processes, ensuring product security.
  • Ensure that all invoices are received in line with pre-planned SAGE Route Planning.
  • Complete and process all necessary despatch documentation for sub-contractors and couriers.
  • Maintain proper filing and matching of proof of delivery (POD) documents with relevant orders/invoices.
  • Track and report any outstanding PODs to the Depot Supervisor.
  • Delivery Scheduling & Coordination
  • Arrange collection and delivery appointments with sub-contractors and couriers.
  • Schedule delivery times with both customers and COD customers.
  • Ensure a fully completed and signed POD is received for all dispatched goods.
  • Financial Transactions
  • Receive and sign for COD payments collected by drivers and forward them to the Admin Clerk at the end of each day.
  • Ensure signatures are obtained for all money transfers between depot personnel.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (Essential)
  • Warehousing Diploma (Ideal)

Experience:

  • Working in a retail distribution warehouse or depot 3+ years as a despatch clerk or similar.
  • Experience in managing staff/drivers
  • Route planning and scheduling experience

Other:

  • Own reliable transport
  • Should be familiar with surrounding areas to plan routes
  • Should be able to speak/write both Afrikaans and English
  • Working hours 07:00 - 16:30
