Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification allowing registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Current registration (2025) with the SANC as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 1: Less than 3 years appropriate/recognized nursing experience after registration with SANC as Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 2: 10 years or more, but less than 13 years appropriate/recognized experience with SANC as Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 3: 20 years or more, but less than 23 years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration with the SANC as Enrolled Nurse.
  • Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, National Core Standards and other relevant legal frameworks such as Nursing Act, OHS Act, Patient’s Rights Charter, Responsibilities, Batho-Pele principles, Public Service regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure etc.
  • Competency: perform elementary Clinical Nursing Practice in accordance with scope of practice and Nursing standards; promote quality elementary Nursing care as directed by relevant health facility; demonstrate elementary understanding of Nursing legislation and related legal and ethical Nursing Practices.
  • Skills: Insight into procedures and policies pertaining to Nursing Care; ability to function as part of a team; basic communication and writing skills; basic interpersonal skills and elementary facilitation.
