Duties

• Design, develop and maintain SQL Server database objects including stored procedures, functions, views and triggers.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes using SSIS.
• Create and support reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI.
• Optimise SQL queries, indexes and database performance.
• Analyse execution plans and resolve database performance issues.
• Design and maintain relational database structures while ensuring data integrity.
• Collaborate with Developers, Business Analysts and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support production environments through troubleshooting, root cause analysis and issue resolution.
• Participate in database deployments, code reviews and change management activities.
• Maintain technical documentation and adhere to development standards and best practices

Job Experience & Skills Required

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) National Diploma, Bachelor's Degree or BTech in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Microsoft SQL certifications.

Experience

• 35 years' commercial experience as a SQL Developer.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server ).
• Advanced T-SQL development skills.
• Experience with Azure SQL or cloud-based data platforms.
• Exposure to Data Warehousing, SSAS or modern data engineering technologies.
• Experience working within Financial Services, Insurance or Banking.
• Experience developing stored procedures, functions, views and triggers.
• Hands-on experience with SSIS.
• Experience with SSRS and/or Power BI.
• Strong understanding of relational database design and normalisation.
• Experience with query optimisation, indexing and execution plans.
• Exposure to version control tools such as Git or Azure DevOps.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
