Job summary

Auto & Truck Tyres is seeking an experienced spray painter to prepare surfaces, mix paints to specification, and apply coatings evenly. You will operate spray guns and related equipment to deliver a smooth, high-quality finish in a busy workshop.

The role requires attention to detail, strict adherence to safety procedures and quality standards, and the ability to read job sheets. You will maintain tools, keep the workspace clean, and work to meet customer and production deadlines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of paint types, coatings, and finishing techniques.
• Ability to use spray painting tools and equipment.
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Understanding of surface preparation.
• Basic knowledge of workplace safety and hazardous materials handling.
• Physical stamina for standing, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, filling, and priming.
• Mix paints and coatings according to specifications, including matching colors and adjusting thickness.
• Operate spray painting equipment such as spray guns, compressors, and drying tools.
• Apply paint or protective coatings evenly to metal, wood, plastic, or other surfaces.
• Inspect finished work for defects like runs, uneven coverage, or incorrect color.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning spray guns, checking hoses, and ensuring tools work properly.
• Follow safety procedures including use of masks, gloves, goggles, and ventilation systems.
• Read job sheets or work instructions to meet customer or production requirements.
