The Recruitment Pig is seeking an experienced Spray Painter to support our workshop in Johannesburg, ensuring top-quality truck painting on schedule. You will prepare surfaces, mix automotive paints, and operate spray booths with a focus on safety and efficiency.

With 5+ years of hands-on experience on trucks or heavy vehicles, you will work in a hands-on team, maintain equipment, and contribute to smooth workshop operations, delivering reliable results for fleet clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on spray painting experience, preferably on trucks or heavy vehicles.
• A valid driver’s license to move vehicles around the yard.
• Trade test certificate or technical qualifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, sand, and mask truck cabs, panels, and heavy chassis for painting.
• Mix and match 2K paint colors using standard automotive formulas.
• Set up, spray, and clean spray guns and workshop painting equipment.
• Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats inside spray booths; bake and cure as per data guidelines.
• Polish and finish painted surfaces to a high-gloss look; maintain safety and neat workspace.

Prepare, sand, and mask commercial truck cabs, panels, and heavy chassis for painting. Mix and match 2K paint colors accurately using standard automotive color formulas. Set up, spray, and clean down professional spray guns and workshop painting equipment.

Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats evenly inside modern spray booths. Bake and cure painted commercial vehicles safely following standard technical data guidelines. Polish and finish painted surfaces to achieve a clean, smooth, high-gloss look. Follow everyday safety rules, wear protective gear, and keep your workspace neat and tidy.

What You Need to Apply

At least 5 years of hands-on spray painting experience, especially on trucks or heavy vehicles. Age profile between 25 and 40 years old. Solid experience mixing automotive paints, applying 2K systems, and matching paint colors. Good knowledge of spray booth operations, gun maintenance, and surface preparation methods. Relevant trade test certificate or technical qualifications will be an added advantage. A valid driver's license to move vehicles safely around the workshop yard. A positive attitude, reliable work ethic, willingness to learn, and strong teamwork skills.
