Curro Holdings seeks to appoint a primary school Sports Coordinator (full-time) at Curro Hillcrest in KwaZulu-Natal to commence duties in January 2026

Key Performance Areas

Sports Planning & Administration

  • Review and plan the coaching timetable.
  • Allocate coaches to teams and sporting activities.
  • Manage communication with parents regarding sports events and activities.
  • Oversee the process of indemnity and permission slips for all sporting events.
  • Plan and manage the annual sports awards programme.
  • Attend and participate in district AGMs and relevant sporting bodies.
  • Manage ordering and control of sporting stock and equipment.
  • Register teams for leagues, tournaments, galas and competitions based on district fixtures.
  • Compile and communicate fixture timetables based on weekly planners.
  • Capture and communicate results; maintain updated files per sporting code.
  • Organise and maintain the sports storeroom.
  • Compile annual and termly sports reports.
  • Create termly sporting calendars.

Coaching, Training & Health and Safety

  • Assign and manage coaches for various sports codes.
  • Research and organise coaching clinics for staff development.
  • Mentor and upskill coaches in coaching methodology and best practice.
  • Coach within own sporting discipline.
  • Officiate at sports matches as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies.

Physical Education Programme

  • Plan and implement PE programmes across relevant grades.
  • Design cross-sport talent identification systems and skills development frameworks.
  • Develop sport-specific PE assessments and rubrics.
  • Review assessments to identify emerging talent and support learners’ sporting growth.

Sports Events & Tours

  • Plan, coordinate and manage sports events, tours, and camps.
  • Allocate teams and staffing on the day of events.
  • Assign student helpers and support roles.
  • Manage return slips and confirmations for matches.
  • Arrange substitutes and replacements when required.
  • Oversee the running of sports events including scheduling, announcements, and programme management.
  • Coordinate catering orders for coaches, parents, and learners.

Staff Management

  • Mentor and manage coaching staff.
  • Assist the Head of Sport with disciplinary matters.
  • Mediate between staff and parents where necessary

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • A Sport Science qualification is advantageous.
  • 2–3 years’ experience as a sports coach (essential).
  • 1–2 years’ experience in sports or event coordination (advantageous).
  • Strong organisational, communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends and during sports events.
  • A passion for youth development and school sport.
  • Professional, disciplined and committed to excellence.
