Job Title: Specialist Field Guide
Department: Guiding / Safari Operations
Reports to: Safari Operations Manager
Location: Luxury Safari / Game Reserve Environment
Job Overview
An experienced and passionate Specialist Field Guide is required to deliver exceptional safari experiences within a luxury hospitality environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading advanced game drives and walking safaris, ensuring guest safety, and creating memorable, informative wildlife encounters.
Minimum Requirements
- FGASA Level 2 or NQF4 Field Guide qualification
- Full Trails Guide / Lead Trails qualification or equivalent specialist certification
- Minimum 4–5 years’ experience working with Big Five game
- Proven experience hosting high‑end / five‑star clientele
Key Responsibilities Guest Experience
- Conduct twice‑daily game drives (approximately 3 hours each)
- Lead guided walking safaris in a safe and engaging manner
- Host guests during meals and selected lodge activities
- Deliver informative and engaging commentary on wildlife, environment, and conservation
Operations & Equipment
- Maintain and ensure the upkeep of safari vehicles and guiding equipment
- Conduct routine checks to ensure all assets are in excellent working condition
- Carry out standby duties and assist with guest‑related activities as required
Team & Department Contribution
- Support the Field Guide Department with general duties
- Work independently for extended periods while maintaining high standards
- Contribute to a professional, guest‑focused team environment

Additional Requirements
- Valid Code B or EB driver’s licence with PDP
- Valid SAPS firearm competency (rifle)
- Valid First Aid certificate
- Registered with relevant environmental or tourism authority (e.g., DEAT)
- 4x4 driving experience (advantageous)
- Advanced rifle handling certification (advantageous)
