About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Sourcing Assistant to join our Retail Leisure Design Centre team. You’ll support the sourcing process by researching suppliers, tracking orders, assisting with negotiations, and ensuring that materials are sourced on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Key Responsibilities
Supplier Research and Selection
  • Assist in researching and identifying potential suppliers for fabrics.
  • Help evaluate supplier options based on cost, quality, lead times, and sustainability criteria.
Assisting with Sourcing Orders
  • Place and track orders for required materials and developments.
  • Ensure orders are placed in a timely manner and follow up on delays, shortages, or quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, order quantities, and delivery schedules.
Quality Control Support
  • Ensure materials and products meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate supplier samples for review by the design team.
  • Support in resolving quality issues or product discrepancies.
Price Comparisons and Negotiation Assistance
  • Gather quotes from multiple suppliers to compare pricing and terms.
  • Assist in negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Provide administrative support during negotiations and keep supplier agreements on record.
Stock and Inventory Management
  • Assist with inventory management to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Track order statuses and update internal teams on delivery schedules.
Administrative and Reporting Support
  • Prepare purchase orders, track deliveries, and maintain project documentation.
  • Organize and file strike-offs, lab dips, and new developments.
Collaboration with Design and Project Teams
  • Work with design teams to understand material and product requirements.
  • Provide timely updates on order statuses and any issues.
  • Assist in sourcing materials that align with design vision and project goals.
Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing
  • Identify sustainable and eco-friendly material options.
  • Support implementation of sustainable practices and ethical sourcing standards.
Market Trends and Competitor Analysis
  • Research retail design trends, innovations, and sourcing opportunities.
  • Track competitor product offerings and market developments.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Clothing & Textiles, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in sourcing, procurement, or administration (fashion, retail, or design preferred).
Skills
  • Familiarity with procurement platforms, spreadsheets, and database management is advantageous. Strong organizational and multitasking.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A passion for retail design and a keen interest in the materials sourcing process.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address sourcing issues or challenges as they arise.
Competencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suits (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and experience with procurement or inventory management software. The ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with suppliers, design teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate order processing, inventory tracking, and supplier communication.
  • Proactive and positive attitude, willing to learn and contribute to the overall success of sourcing team.
