Role Overview
The Technical Solutions team strives to be the best technical payment partner for global brands, enterprise businesses, and startups operating in Africa. To achieve this, our client partners with their merchants to unlock their full potential by designing tailored solutions using our client’s products to meet their unique needs and guiding them in adopting best practices that drive customer success and revenue growth.
The team works closely with the in-country business development teams to accelerate the sales cycle and business onboarding. Additionally, they serve as a trusted bridge between our client’s largest businesses and the product and engineering teams, sharing valuable feedback that shapes our client’s products to solve real business challenges.

Requirements
- Technical Experience: 5+ years in a technical role, ideally in pre-sales, customer support, or software engineering, with hands-on experience in REST APIs, SDKs, and payment gateway integrations.
- Solution Design & Integration: Proven experience in integrating technical solutions for external partners or merchants.
- Communication & Presentation: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges in real time, with a track record of methodically tackling issues to final resolution.
- Customer Success Mindset: Strong commitment to ensuring merchants succeed by delivering effective solutions and outstanding support.
- Project & Portfolio Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and merchant accounts while effectively prioritizing tasks.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of South Africa’s fintech ecosystem, payment regulations, and compliance standards.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to take initiative, navigate ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Public Speaking & Advocacy: Experience speaking at industry events, leading technical workshops, or contributing to developer communities.
- Experience with Low-Code/No-Code Platforms: Understanding of tools like Zapier, Bubble, Pipedream for workflow automation and integrations.
Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Strategy and Solution Design
- Work closely with the sales team to craft compelling solution proposals and pitches for potential clients.
- Lead technical discovery calls, asking the right questions to understand the prospect’s technical setup, payment challenges, and how they plan to use our client
- Demonstrate our client’s product capabilities through live demos, API clients, sample projects, and other tools to help prospects visualize seamless integration.
Merchant Integration and Onboarding
- Collaborate with newly signed merchants and the sales team to design tailored payment solutions.
- Prepare clear, structured Scope of Work documents to guide merchants through implementation.
- Ensure a smooth API onboarding experience by troubleshooting issues and optimizing integrations for scalability.
Post-Launch Growth and Optimization
- Regularly review merchant performance, providing recommendations to optimize payments and unlock growth opportunities.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor, addressing escalations and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Identify upsell opportunities by recommending additional products and services.
- Gather feedback to improve our client’s product offerings and ensure long-term client success.
Industry and Market Expertise
- Own the technical sales strategy for a specific industry or region.
- Develop and maintain an Industry Strategy Playbook, outlining how our client’s solutions address market-specific needs and challenges.
