Placements24 is recruiting on behalf of its client in the Paarl area for a skilled Solar PV Technician. This hands-on role handles installation and maintenance of residential and commercial PV systems.

You will install panels, inverters, and electrical components, perform site assessments, and ensure all work complies with safety standards. The ideal candidate has at least two years of PV installation experience and a qualification in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 2 years' PV installation and maintenance experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and installation manuals; strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Solar PV Technician to join their growing installation and maintenance team in the Paarl area. This hands‑on role is essential for the successful deployment and upkeep of photovoltaic systems for residential and commercial clients. You will be responsible for the physical installation of solar panels, inverters, and associated electrical components, as well as performing regular inspections and maintenance. Key Responsibilities

• Install photovoltaic panels, mounting hardware, inverters, and associated electrical wiring on rooftops and ground‑mount systems.
• Conduct electrical connections according to industry best practices and safety standards.
• Perform pre‑installation site assessments and ensure all necessary materials are available.
• Carry out routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of existing solar PV installations.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in solar PV systems, including electrical issues and component failures.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
• Maintain accurate records of installation work, maintenance activities, and site conditions.

Requirements

• Relevant technical qualification or certification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and installation manuals.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and working at heights.

• Must possess a valid driver's license and be physically fit for manual labor in various weather conditions.
