Placements24 is seeking a Field Installation Technician to join the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal team. This hands-on role focuses on installing solar panels, inverters, batteries, and related electrical components for residential and commercial clients, outdoors in varying weather conditions.

You will read engineering designs, connect equipment, test systems, and collaborate with project teams while maintaining safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience as solar PV installer or related electrical/construction role.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles and wiring practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation manuals.
• Proficient with hand and power tools used in electrical/construction work.
• Excellent physical condition and ability to work at heights and lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Install solar panel arrays on rooftops, ground mounts or other structures per designs.
• Mount and connect inverters, batteries and balance-of-system components.
• Perform electrical wiring and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
• Test and commission systems post-installation to verify performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues or malfunctions.
• Keep worksites clean, safe and organized; manage materials and inventory.
• Provide basic customer orientation on system operation after installation.
