Software Project Manager position available in Durban.

One of the largest Media and Software Development Companies in South Africa is looking for a Software Project Manager to join their team on a full-time permanent basis at their offices in Durban.

Core Purpose of The Job:

The Software Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing IT software implementation and enhancement projects. They will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with quality and business requirements.

The role requires proactive stakeholder engagement, resource coordination, risk management, and disciplined project governance.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management / IT advantageous
  • Project Management certification (Prince2, PMP, Agile, Scrum Master) beneficial
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and software development processes
  • 3 to 5 years proven track record managing IT software delivery projects
  • Experience managing cross‑functional project teams
  • Vendor and stakeholder management experience

Nature And Scope of the Job:

  • Manage end‑to‑end delivery of software projects within agreed scope, time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Ensure effective collaboration between Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive requirements gathering, documentation, and change control processes
  • Facilitate project meetings and progress reporting
  • Ensure clear and timeous communication to stakeholders at all levels
  • Maintain updated project governance documentation and artefacts
  • Ensure risks, issues, and dependencies are logged, tracked, and resolved
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance where applicable

Key Performance Areas:

  • Deliver IT software projects on time, within scope and budget
  • Drive full adherence to Project Governance frameworks and processes
  • Maintain strong stakeholder communication and expectation alignment
  • Ensure accurate status reporting and progress tracking
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery practices
  • Monitoring and reporting on resource utilisation where required
  • Manage project documentation including project plans, logs, and closure reports
