About the role

As a Front-End Software Engineer (Level II), you\u2019ll play an integral role in a cross-functional team responsible for the full software development lifecycle from concept and design through development, deployment, and ongoing operations.

You\u2019ll help build intuitive and engaging web and mobile experiences that bring Capitec\u2019s client-first vision to life. Working closely with designers, back-end engineers, and business analysts, you\u2019ll transform design mockups and functional requirements into dynamic, high-quality user interfaces using React and related technologies.

In this role, you\u2019ll be responsible for writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code; contributing to UI/UX improvements; and ensuring that our solutions are accessible, performant, and consistent across platforms. You\u2019ll also take part in design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement efforts that support innovation and technical excellence across the team.

Qualifications / Our ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate is a collaborative and curious front-end engineer who is passionate about crafting seamless digital experiences that make a real difference to clients.

You have hands-on experience developing and maintaining production-grade React applications, and you\u2019re comfortable working with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design frameworks. You understand how front-end components integrate with APIs and back-end systems, and you\u2019re confident optimizing performance and maintaining code quality across multiple browsers and devices.

You\u2019re a problem-solver who thrives in agile, fast-paced environments and enjoys working with others to deliver reliable, elegant solutions. You take pride in writing code that not only works well but also enhances the client journey.

Education

• Education (Minimum): Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

• Education (Ideal or Preferred): A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology

Knowledge and Experience

Experience: 3+ years b proven experience in front-end software development, project delivery and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language)

• Experience with modern front-end frameworks and technologies.

Knowledge:

• IT systems development processes (SDLC)
