Job summary

Jackie Cory Recruitment is seeking a Software Engineer (Electrical Engineering) in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, to support automotive and paint plant automation. You will work with PLC systems, configure networks, plan installations and provide on-site service.

The role requires a Diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechatronics, 2–5 years of automation experience, and strong communication and teamwork. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime is essential, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years automation experience (automotive & paint plant advantageous).
• Electrical/electronics troubleshooting and fault finding.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and overtime; long hours when needed.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license and own transport.

Responsibilities

• Good knowledge of PLC software systems (Siemens S7/TIA, WinCC), Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, ABB advantageous.
• Set up and configure network devices (drives, remote I/O, sensors).
• Project planning, installation and commissioning for installations.
• Provide standby support to customer per SOP.
• Build good business relationships with customers for service activities.
• Site safety implementation during projects and service work.
• Attend site meetings and project meetings.
• Technical assistance during production support (breakdowns).
• Verify and compile data records of test readings (reports).
• Meet project deadlines.

• Good Knowledge of PLC Software Systems (Siemens Simatic S7, Siemens TIA, WinCC) Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, ABB advantageous.
• Set up & configure various network devices (Drives, Remote I/O, Sensors etc.).
• Project Planning, Installation & Commissioning for installations.
• Provide standby support to customer from project SOP.
• Build good business relationship with customer related to service activities.

Requirements:

• Minimum National Diploma / Degree in Electrical / Mechatronics.
  2 – 5 Years’ Automation experience (Automotive & Paint Plant experience advantageous)
• Electronics and Electrical Troubleshooting / Fault Finding.
• Strong understanding of Software & Commissioning practices & processes.
  Ability to work shifts, weekends and overtime & able to work long hours when needed.
• Excellent communication and presentational skills.
