General Manager (OSS / BSS system)

We are looking for a highly talented software development manager to join our Systems team in Stellenbosch.

Division: Operations Systems

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities

• Team management – manage the product & software development team; continue improving internal processes and ensure employees work as a cohesive unit.
• Manage all aspects of the business's day‑to‑day functions including but not limited to administration, accounting, HR, sales and marketing as well as reporting.
• Stakeholder / customer management – engage with all stakeholders on their requirements and manage their expectations; resolve application issues and bugs in a timely manner, whilst keeping customers informed.
• Product architecture and lifecycle management – work with the National Systems Manager to understand the overall System environment, all related systems and produce the most appropriate architecture; maintain and expand the product as directed by the business strategy.
• Overall responsibility for product quality and performance – provide an acceptable level of application support services to the customer base; provide an acceptable level of system availability and performance levels to the business.
• Reporting & Administration – produce various operational performance reports at regular intervals; work with the National Systems Manager on development budget requirements.

Requirements

• A formal IT or relevant business qualification is required.
• At least 8 years' experience in a similar role including but not limited to the following minimum requirements:
  • Years' experience in managing software development and its implementation and support.
  • 3 years' experience in a senior leadership and management position.
• At least 5 years of demonstrable hands‑on development experience using the following technologies:
  • LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL) stack.
  • PHP, including CodeIgniter, Laravel or similar framework.
  • HTML, CSS & visual frameworks like Bootstrap.
  • SQL databases, including performance tuning of SQL queries and database instances.
• Experience managing large transaction volumes and processing of large data sets.
• Strong knowledge of building & designing IT systems.
• Knowledge of GitHub, Bitbucket or similar source‑control systems.
• Knowledge of various payment platforms.
• Knowledge of ISP systems – a bonus.
• Knowledge of Radius – a strong advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of financial management.
• Ability to plan and manage a company's performance.
• Manage operations and processes within budget.
• Ability to enforce and maintain high standards, even under pressure.
