Purpose Of The Position
The Social Worker is responsible for implementing and managing social development programmes aligned with Goedgedacht’s Path onto Prosperity. The role contributes to the organisation’s mission by providing direct services to individuals and families, strengthening family functioning, supporting community‑based initiatives, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to promote long‑term wellbeing and resilience.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with minimal supervision while adhering to professional social work standards
- Provide social work services to children, youth, adults, and families
- Deliver casework and Family Preservation Services
- Provide counselling and therapeutic interventions
- Conduct family risk assessments and develop family development plans
- Facilitate group work, including Positive Parenting Programmes
- Implement community‑based interventions and positive family functioning workshops
- Manage referrals and collaborate with relevant service providers and stakeholders
- Develop and implement an Annual Social Work Service Delivery Plan
- Compile accurate monthly and quarterly reports on interventions and outcomes
- Support, guide, and collaborate with Community Workers and Youth Workers where applicable
- Implement and oversee community projects linked to family wellbeing and social development
- Facilitate and oversee Men’s Programmes
- Participate in public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and networking as required
Qualifications and Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or equivalent qualification
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker
- Professional Experience: direct social work practice, including casework with individuals and families
- Experience in family preservation, counselling, and group work
- Experience working with children, youth, and adults
- Experience in rural and/or farming communities will be an advantage

- Strong report writing, record‑keeping, and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage conflict, crisis situations, and complex family dynamics
- Strong planning, organisational, and time‑management skills
