Job summary

Department of Health at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital is seeking a Social Worker to render social work services, provide counselling, conduct advanced assessments and implement interventions. You will maintain records, engage in research, and support policy development while performing administrative duties.

The role requires SAQA-recognised BSW and SACSSP registration, with knowledge of human behaviour, social systems and program management. A valid driver's license is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work recognised by SAQA and SACSSP registration required.

• Produce and maintain records of interventions and outcomes.
• Undertake social work research and contribute to policy development.
• Perform administrative duties related to the job.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Social work as recognised by SAQA. Current registration with the South African Council For Social Service Professions (SACSSP), proof of current registration with SACSSP to be attached to the application. Other Skills/Requirements: Knowledge and understanding of human behaviour, social systems and skills to intervene at a point where people interact with their environmental environment in order to promote their wellbeing. Programme and project management skills. Information and knowledge management skills. people management and empowerment skills. Communication and coordination skills. Computer literate and a valid motor vehicle driver's licence will be added advantages.

Duties

• Render social work services with regard to care, protection and development of vulnerable individuals’ group, families and communities. Provide invidual and group counselling. Conduct advance and specialised assessment aimed at identifying condition and justify relevant intervention. Implement the reccommendations on the appropriate interventions required to address the needs and provide continious support. Produce and maintain records of social work interventions processes and outcomes. Undertake social work research and development, contribute to and assist in the development of policies. Perform all the admistrative functions required of the job.
