About the Role:

LAERSKOOL MIDSTRAM RIDGE PRIMARY is an independent,parallel medium values-driven school. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Social Sciences Teacher who is enthusiastic about engaging young learners in History and Geography, and who will also contribute meaningfully to our boys’ sport programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Social Sciences (History and Geography) to learners in Grades 4-7
  • Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning about people, places, and cultures.
  • Integrate technology, current events, and project-based learning into lessons to make the subject relevant and interactive.
  • Assess and report on learner progress in accordance with school and curriculum standards.
  • Coach a boys’ sport (preferred), focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Participate actively in the school’s co-curricular programmes.

Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent) with a specialisation in Social Sciences.
  • Experience teaching at primary or preparatory school level will be advantageous.
  • A passion for and experience in boys’ sport coaching.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and connect with young learners.
  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to be involved in the broader life of the school.
