A leading technology company is seeking a dynamic Social Media Manager to spearhead social media strategies across Africa. This role will involve content creation, community engagement, and performance analysis to enhance brand visibility. The ideal candidate should have over 5 years of experience in social media management, a strong understanding of various analytics tools, and familiarity with African markets. A Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications is required, along with relevant certifications being advantageous.
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Manager to lead our social media strategy across South Africa, Southern Africa, East Africa, and West Africa. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building and engaging online communities, driving brand awareness, and leveraging social media platforms to achieve business objectives. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and technical expertise to deliver impactful campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences.
Social Media Strategy – Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies tailored to the African market, including South Africa, Southern Africa, East Africa, and West Africa.
Identify and capitalize on emerging social media trends and platform features to enhance brand visibility.
Content Creation and Curation – Create engaging, culturally relevant content that aligns with brand values and resonates with diverse African audiences.
Curate and manage content calendars across multiple platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok).
Community Engagement – Build and nurture online communities by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Foster positive relationships with followers and influencers to amplify brand reach.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization – Analyze social media metrics (e.g. engagement rates, reach, conversions) to assess campaign performance and optimize strategies.
Provide regular reports to stakeholders with actionable insights.
Collaboration – Work closely with marketing, PR, and creative teams to ensure alignment across campaigns and initiatives.
Collaborate with regional teams to adapt strategies for local markets.
Crisis Management – Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential social media issues swiftly and effectively.
Pure Creativity Functions (Non‑AI Tasks) – Storytelling and Brand Narratives: Craft compelling brand stories that evoke emotions and connect with on a deeper level.
Cultural Adaptation: Tailoring content to reflect local languages, traditions, and cultural nuances across diverse African regions.
Innovative Campaigns: Design unique, out‑of‑the‑box campaigns that capture attention and drive engagement.
Influencer Partnerships: Identify and collaborate with influencers who align with the brand's values and audience preferences.
AI Integration in the Role – Automating repetitive tasks such as scheduling posts, monitoring mentions, and analyzing data. Generating content ideas based on trending topics or audience preferences. Optimizing ad targeting and budget allocation through predictive analytics.
Social Media Platforms – Proficiency in managing and optimizing content on major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok).
Analytics Tools – Experience with tools like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or similar platforms for tracking performance.
Content Management Systems (CMS) – Familiarity with CMS platforms like WordPress or HubSpot for managing digital content.
CRM Systems – Basic understanding of CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) for managing customer interactions and data.
Graphic Design Tools – Knowledge of tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite for creating visually appealing content.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Certifications in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation (e.g. Facebook Blueprint, HubSpot Social Media Certification) are advantageous.
Knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is advantageous.
Proven experience (5+ years) in social media management or a related field.
Experience managing social media campaigns for diverse audiences across multiple regions or countries.
Familiarity with African markets, cultures, and consumer behaviour.
Strong understanding of social media analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Google Analytics).
