The Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division at Stellenbosch University (SU) is looking for a Social and Digital Media Coordinator to join our stakeholder communications team. This team plays a central role in building and strengthening relationships with alumni, donors and friends of the University. As member of this team, you will be responsible for shaping how the DAR connects with stakeholders through digital platforms – from engaging social media campaigns to alumni publications and digital storytelling. You'll work closely with colleagues in fundraising, alumni engagement and communications to ensure that our online presence is dynamic, professional and aligned with the Matie spirit.

Die Afdeling Ontwikkeling en Alumnibetrekkinge (OAB) aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch (US) benodig 'n Koördineerder: Sosiale- en Digitalemedia om by ons span vir kommunikasie met belanghebbendes aan te sluit. Hierdie span vervul 'n kernrol om betrekkinge met alumni, skenkers en vriende van die Universiteit te smee en te versterk. As lid van hierdie span sal jy daarvoor verantwoordelik wees om vorm te gee aan hoe die OAB met belanghebbendes skakel by wyse van digitale platforms – van dinamiese sosialemediaveldtogte tot alumnipublikasies en digitale storievertelling. Jy sal nou saamwerk met kollegas in fondsinsameling, alumnibetrokkenheid en kommunikasie om te verseker dat ons aanlyn teenwoordigheid dinamies en professioneel is en die Matie-gees uitdra.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and managing content for DAR's digital channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, MatiesConnect and SU web pages).
  • Growing and energising online alumni and donor communities through creative and impactful content.
  • Providing digital campaign support for initiatives such as Homecoming, Giving Day and peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Collaborating with DAR colleagues and SU's central team at the Division of Corporate Communication and Marketing to ensure brand consistency and alignment of our messages.
  • Producing high-quality multimedia content (graphics, videos and animations).
  • Tracking and analysing metrics, and presenting reports to guide strategy and measure success.
Qualifications
  • National Diploma or equivalent qualification (NQF level 6).
  • At least four years' relevant experience of digital/social media coordination.
  • Strong communication and copywriting skills.
  • The proven ability to grow and manage online communities.
  • Project management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Creative flair with proficiency in digital tools and multimedia production.
Recommendation
  • Knowledge of the South African higher education sector.
  • Familiarity with POPIA and compliance thereof in digital communication.
  • Experience in online marketing campaigns.
