Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Operations Lead to manage a SOC in Soweto, Gauteng. You will guide threat monitoring, incident detection and response, and drive improvements in security processes and tools.

You will mentor a security analyst team, report on SOC metrics, and collaborate with IT to strengthen the organization's security posture in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in information security with 2+ years in SOC leadership.
• Experience in security monitoring, incident detection and response.
• Knowledge of SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR and security tools.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to make critical decisions under pressure.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead SOC team and daily operations.
• Monitor security alerts and logs for threats.
• Manage incident response processes and timelines.
• Develop and refine SOC playbooks and workflows.
• Evaluate and manage security monitoring tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR).
• Conduct threat hunting to identify and neutralize threats.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to strengthen security posture.
• Report SOC performance metrics and risk to management.
• Mentor SOC analysts and foster expertise.
