Job summary

Mediclinic in Stellenbosch seeks a Senior Professional Nurse to support the Unit Manager, deliver high-quality patient care and mentor students and junior staff. The role focuses on mitigating clinical risks while coordinating care delivery and sustaining staff competencies.

You will be responsible for clinical governance, nursing processes, and ensuring infection prevention, safety and regulatory compliance across the unit.

Qualifications

• Professional Nurse qualification and midwifery required.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing preferred or required.
• 3 years Professional Nurse experience in a hospital and 1 year mentor experience.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in ensuring a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and co-ordinating care delivery. They further provide direct patient care, as well as mentorship to new and student nurses in the unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
• Manage the client experience
• Ensure optimal supply, retention, and utilisation of staffing resources
• Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
• Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)
