Job description
Overview

Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech.Eng, electrical engineering, Instrumentation engineering or related field. Relevant post graduate qualifications albeit technical, management or business related could be advantageous. Must be willing to travel overseas. Must be able to do programming or manage programs (Integration Control). Knowledge of Level 2 Automation. Minimum of 5 year experience within the field of E&I and control systems engineering and construction within a project-based environment. Proven track record in project management and team leadership within an engineering environment. Experience in designing and building furnaces, kilns, or industrial heating systems is highly preferred. Hands on experience with PLC, SCADA, and DCS programming is an advantage. Ability to interpret basic E, C & I drawings. Proficient in the use of the E-plan for E, C & I design is advantageous. Level 2 system understanding is advantageous. Commissioning experience is advantageous. E&I (HV, MV & LV) and control systems design, deliverables, construction and application in large industrial plants. Strong knowledge of power distribution system, control systems and industrial instrumentation. Familiarity with hazardous area classification (ATEX, IECEx) and exposition-proof equipment. Industry codes / standards and inter departmental practices and procedures. In depth understanding of drawings, specifications, networks and communication. Pricing, tendering and budgeting principles, tools and control. Computer spread sheets and other MS office applications. Safety consciousness and application of good practice health and safety. Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, instrumentation selection, and automation integration. Ability to lead a team, manage resources, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and trouble shooting skills. Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledge of relevant software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, EPLAN or similar). Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all aspects of work. Organisational skills like planning, project management and prioritising ability. Commercial awareness and sound written and verbal communication skills. Writing computer software and design / develop new control systems. Interpret drawings and specifications for internal, client and contractor use. Responsibilities
  • Technical Responsibilities :
  • Design, develop, and implement electrical and instrumentation systems for industrial furnace projects.
  • Develop and review single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and P&IDs for control and automation systems.
  • Specify and select electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop PLC, SCADA, and DCS system requirements and collaborate with automation engineers for integration.
  • Ensure proper calibration, configuration, and testing of instrumentation and control devices.
  • Conduct power and distribution analysis, load calculations, and protection coordination for furnace projects.
  • Develop and review functional design specifications (FDS) and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC and local regulations related to electrical and instrumentation engineering.
  • Project and Managerial responsibilities :
  • Lead E&I engineering activities from concept to commissioning, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Manage contractors, suppliers and vendors to meet quality standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and HAZOP reviews to ensure safe and efficient design.
  • Develop and manage project documentation, including specifications, reports and progress updates.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and team members.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, presenting technical solutions and addressing project concerns.
  • Implement and monitor QA/QC processes for E&I deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide overall project planning, design, costing, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover for E&I and control system packages.
  • Manage suppliers and subcontractors to maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain ECSA professional registration and manage own development.
