About the Apprenticeship

Sandown Motor Holdings (SMH), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck Southern Africa Ltd, invites applications for the Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship Programme at its Centurion Sandown Workshop.

The programme offers candidates hands‑on training and mentorship under the supervision of qualified Technicians.

Apprentices will gain practical skills in diesel mechanics, maintenance, and customer service while working in a professional workshop environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Support

Perform authorized repairs and services in line with Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) standards.

Complete repairs according to job cards and prescribed flat rate times.

Seek supervisory guidance when necessary during repairs.

Customer Service

Handle customer vehicles with care and professionalism.

Meet customer care standards at all times.

Notify foreman and service advisor of any issues or delays.

Administration & Cost Control

Complete and submit accurate job cards.

Record hours worked, material usage, and attach relevant documentation.

Adhere to DTSA warranty and fleet maintenance procedures.

Maintain workshop cleanliness and tool security.

Follow all statutory and SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) requirements.

Self-Development

Take responsibility for personal learning and complete required training.

Submit training assessment portfolios on time.

Qualifications

Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science & English

OR

Technical Matric

OR

N2 in Mechanical Engineering / Diesel Motor Mechanic

Technical knowledge of commercial vehicles
