Overview
NTT DATA is a global technology services provider. This role is for a Skilled Critical Facilities Maintenance Technician responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of data center electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.
- Maintain mechanical systems such as chilled water, HVAC rooftop units, CRAC/CRAH units, and humidification systems.
- Handle electrical systems including critical power distribution from utility/main switchgear through UPS systems to customer load.
- Ensure fire life‑safety compliance with wet and pre‑action sprinklers and associated detection devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical orders to determine processes.
- Inspect, install, align, and assemble component parts using hand or power tools.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
- Work with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.
- Track and complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance program.
- Recommend new technologies and improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Knowledge
- In‑depth understanding of data center mechanical, electrical, and fire life‑safety systems (e.g., transformers, PLCs, generators, UPS, STS, PDU, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH, pre‑action sprinklers).
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, building codes, and industrial safety best practices.
- Experience with data trending/tracking and PC‑based integrated critical monitoring systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Experience & Certifications
- Solid experience in a critical facilities maintenance role within a data‑center, hospital, semiconductor, or power‑plant environment.
- Previous leadership or team‑lead experience in a critical facilities maintenance team.
- Hands‑on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large commercial and industrial systems (e.g., chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification, VFDs, pumps, generators).
- HVAC qualification.
- Mobile Elevated Platform Operator certification (advantageous).
- First Aid/CPR and NFPA 70E certification (on‑the‑job training acceptable).
