Job summary

A major South African food company is looking for a Quality Manager to implement and maintain quality management systems in its factories. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a natural science or engineering, along with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably within a milling environment. You will be responsible for leading quality improvement initiatives, managing supplier performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification in a natural science / engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, preferably in a Milling environment.
  • Experience in managing external audits.

Implement and maintain QMS in Tiger factories & warehouses and drive everyday execution and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Quality Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Implement and manage quality management systems
  • Implement & manage HACCP
  • Management of measurement and testing equipment and processes
  • Lead quality improvement program
  • Support innovation & change
  • Manage people, culture & linkage
Key Performance Areas:
  • Ensure adherence and maintenance of QMS admin
  • Develop and implement quality related SOP’s and work instructions
  • Drive and track quality KPI’s
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (Municipality, government bodies, etc.)
  • Manage and host external audits
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant legal, statutory and internal requirements/standards and validation thereof
  • Implement, maintain and test site traceability systems
  • Site custodian of all specifications and ensure adherence
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review HACCP studies
  • Implement and manage allergen control program
  • Ensure compliance to pre-requisite program
  • Ensure compliance to micro requirements and standards
  • Implement and ensure compliance to hygiene standards
  • Develop and validate cleaning procedures
  • Manage incoming raw material and drive compliance to specification
  • Design and implement sampling plans
  • Manage supplier performance.
  • Manage work-in-progress and finish product release
  • Decide final disposition for non-conforming product (Product non-conformance management)
  • Manage laboratory operations and adhere to safety standards
  • Manage equipment calibration / verification program
  • Develop and implement weight control verification program quality pillar
  • Manage non-conformance system.
  • Analyse, review, report marketplace feedback and drive continuous improvement
  • Implement and monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement for strategic suppliers
  • Ensure process capability and drive improvement/ optimisation
  • Drive quality loss reduction projects
  • Initiate and drive quality improvement projects
  • Input into the product innovation
  • Support trials
  • Drive the quality gate keeping (TIP) process
  • Drive and manage quality cost improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and expertise
  • Develop and deliver quality training

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
Minimum qualifications/competencies/training/experience required by the position:
  • Bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification in a natural science / engineering.
  • TQM or Quality qualification advantageous.
  • Continuous improvement methodologies (TPM/WCM/Lean)
  • Sound working knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook; PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing. (Covered all pillars of quality) Preferably in a Milling environment
  • Minimum 2 year in a leadership role
  • Experience in managing external audits
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with project management approaches
