Site Agent, Cape Winelands, R40 000 to R60 000pm
Requirements
- BEng / BSc / BTech / ND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum 5 years in construction management on civil projects including roads, earthworks, concrete, reservoir, and waterpipe works.
- ECSA or SACPCMP registration (preferred)
- Proficient in MS Office and project management software (MS Project)
- Strong knowledge of construction methods (SANS 1200/GCC)
- Proven civil construction project management experience (pipelines, earthworks, roads, concrete works)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills (English/Afrikaans)
- Valid driver''s license
Responsibilities
PLANNING
- Draw up the contractual program in conjunction with QS, according to strategy.
- Check the availability of materials on Bulk Orders at the commencement of the contract.
- Program and monitor activities every week; take corrective action if necessary.
- Review planning/progress daily (review meeting).
- Evaluate progress every month to plan for requirements.
- Evaluate and arrange wayleaves and permits timeously.
- Report progress and resources at monthly site meetings.
- Report deviations and problems in the program timeously.
- Plan, Organize, and Maintain Site Camp.
MAN-MANAGEMENT
- Identify labor requirements according to the program and recruit timeously.
- Structure teams and allocate responsibilities.
- Evaluate personnel and identify training needs.
- Take disciplinary measures when required.
- Do in-house training of sub-ordinates and students.
- Apply safety rules and procedures and report monthly.
- Terminate labor contracts timeously.
- Make necessary transport arrangement for personnel.
- Arrange security and watchmans
- Responsible for team building and inter-personnel relationships on site.
- Hold IR meetings when necessary to avoid potential problems.
- Responsible for Housekeeping and furniture on living-out contracts.
- Responsible for daily Health and Safety implementation.
PLANT MANAGEMENT
- Identify requirements according to the weekly program.
- Determine best method of operation to suit conditions.
- Evaluate the process regularly to check the method of operation.
- Ensure correct utilization of plant.
- Plan & ensure availability of plant for maintenance purposes.
- Ensure correct recording of machine hours and fuel issues.
- Protect company assets.
- Maintain company image regarding the plant.
- Determine allowed kilometers per LDV for approval by the Divisional Manager and enforce.
- Management/Control of small plant damages. (Prevent damages)
MATERIAL MANAGEMENT
- Order materials and fuel timeously according to program and bulk orders.
- Limit MOS to 10 % of certificate.
- Allocate responsibilities for receiving, storage and loss control of materials and control regular.
- Submit samples to RE for approval timeously. (>10 working days).
- Arrange testing and recording of results.
- Communicate test results with Devisional Manager.
- Comply with company administration standards for ordering, receiving and documentation of material.
- Purchase of small tools. (Including managing of purchased items)
- Re-use of small tools
COST MANAGEMENT
- Evaluate cash flow from contractual program. (re-program).
- Determine team size and production tempo''s for activities.
- Check survey sheets for accuracy.
- Finalise quantities with QS on BOQ item sheet (Harde Blaaie).
- Process and forward order, delivery notes and fuel issues according to company standards.
- Report monthly on actual/allowable variances.
- Communicate correct cost codes to supervision for use on time cards and fuel issues.
- Accurate measurement and planning of MOS.
CONTRACTUAL MANAGEMENT
- Comply with contactual obligations.
- Determine quality standards for project.
- Communicate standards to responsible persons.
- Monitor and ensure standards are upheld, including necessary testing and quality control and submit to RE timeously.
- Identify and record claims timeously and report to Devisional Manager.
- Hold monthly safety meeting and report.
- Delegate responsibilty for plan register & revisions.
- Check available number of survey beacons or benchmarks to ensure continuity and accuracy of setting out work.
- Confirm and report the accuracy of existing services, benchmarks and survey information to RE and report discrepancies.
- Compile daily diary with RE approval.
- Protect company against unnecessary claims.
- Ensure correct line of communication with Engineers are established on site.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Ensure Healthy relationships with Engineers, Client and Suppliers.
- Notify residents timeously of any disruptions.
- Ensure visitors reception is in place. (Site Clerk).
