The key purpose of this role is to operate the malt roaster, the execution of maintenance and asset care activities in support of the Process Artisan.

The Silo Block Attendant also supports the Dry Side Team Leader in the execution of quality control checks.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute pre‑start safety checks on the roaster operation prior to operation.
  • Ensure the appropriate quality of pale malt is transferred to the roaster for processing.
  • Execute daily dips on roaster pale malt silos to ensure sufficient stock is available for operation.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the pale male cleaning system by maintaining the extraction system and cleaning sieves prior to every run.
  • Operate the roaster production process safely according to standard operational procedures.
  • Perform in‑process quality checks and sampling activities to ensure the quality of roasted malt.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks related to the roaster operation, including ATO activities.
  • Update process control charts and logbooks, including visual management tools at the operator workstation and team room.
  • Execute problem‑solving activities for breakdowns experienced in the roaster area.
  • Support the bagging team in bagging tasks when required.
  • Execute bulk loading tasks for black malt loaded via bulk road trucks.
  • Communicate effectively in the workplace.
  • Contribute to self‑development and team development.

Minimum Requirements
  • Matric.
  • Diploma in Engineering / Sciences.
