Job description

We are looking for an experienced and hardworking individual to join our team as a Shot Blaster.
The role will report into the Foreman in the Assembly team and will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park.
Purpose of the role

To prepare surfaces of metal or hard‑composition objects to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, dust and dirt to impact a specific finish, using abrasive‑blasting

The job responsibilities
  • To stage parts and welded assemblies for blasting, and painting processes.
  • Preparing and setup of necessary tools and equipment for blasting and painting processes.
  • Responsible to shovel or pour abrasives of a specified grade into machine hopper.
  • Responsible to control valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle.
  • Responsible to manually direct nozzle over surface of large parts or manipulate small parts under nozzle.
  • Responsible to examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Masks specified areas of object to protect it from abrasive action.
  • Responsible to use efficient work processes and meets output requirements.
  • Responsible to execute tasks given by Supervisor in the correct way to ensure adherence to the expected standards set by the Company.
  • Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements as prescribed by the Company and OHS Act.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent
  • years' experience in the manufacturing industry
  • A solid background in the painting / shot blasting of manufactured metal components obtained in a metal industry operation.
