Minimum Qualifications
  • National Certificate Supervisor Operations (QCTO)
  • DMR Blasting Certificate (post 1 June 2017) or DMR recognised Mining Operations Level 2 (MQA) and Rock Breaker Level 3 (MQA).
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years mining experience at the level of a Miner (Graduates with 6 months mining experience and 3 months Supervisory experience)
  • DMR Blasting Certificate (post 1 June 2017) or DMR recognised Mining Operations Level 2 (MQA) and Rock Breaker Level 3 (MQA).
  • National Certificate Supervisor Operations (QCTO)
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure legal, operational and standard compliance, including inspection of ground conditions, face preparation and non‑compliance action.
  • Inspect temporary and permanent support installations, machinery, safety devices and barricades; take appropriate action for non‑compliance.
  • Conduct gas and mine‑air tests, and maintain acceptable levels.
  • Measure velocities, temperatures and report sub‑standard conditions.
  • Record attendance, maintain work‑time records and manage time‑worked logs.
  • Advise on ordering and procurement of explosives and record daily/weekly production statistics.
  • Maintain certification and written permission for sensitive or hazardous tasks, and post all relevant reports and statistics to economic resource departments.
  • Communicate production, ventilation, survey, safety and logistic information to the team through notice boards or formal briefings.
  • Complete required checklists, reports and written assessments; submit documentation for hazardous machinery and equipment operation.
  • Manage performance and development of reporting staff, including coaching, training, fair allocation and inspiring high performance.
  • Forecast development objectives, predict resource requirements, and plan production for the area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate logistics, support, maintenance, haulage services, and monitor shift activities to maximise production output.
  • Support training, development, and organisational culture initiatives such as ESG, SHE, and responsible mining principles.
  • Investigate risk assessments and take appropriate actions for identified risks.
  • Ensure adherence to all company and statutory policies and procedures.
