Job summary

A leading mining company is seeking a Shift Boss for its development project in Mokopane, Limpopo. The ideal candidate should possess a Grade 12 certification, a Blasting Certificate, and a proven track record in underground mining. IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”.

Minimum qualifications and skills

• Grade 12>
• Blasting Certificate
• Mine Overseers Certificate Part A (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Conduct Start of shift staff planning and provide instruction to Miners.
• Monitor processes and procedures during shift to ensure compliance to SOPs, COPs, and production targets.
• Check stock levels and order stock to ensure that required materials are available for shift.
• Prevent and report on breakdowns, damages and wastage of material and resources.
• Oversee the health and safety of subordinate staff in work area.
• Conduct end of shift safety, compliance, and reporting procedures.
• Provide feedback to be used in reports.
• Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports.
