Responsibilities

• Oversee health and safety of subordinate staff.
• Conduct end-of-shift safety compliance procedures.
• Provide feedback for reports.
• Coordinate and supervise performance of direct reports.

Ivanplats is looking for a Shift Boss Development REF: IVP-ENG-2502

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world‑class palladium‑rhodium‑nickel‑copper‑gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state‑of‑the‑art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Grade 12
• Blasting Certificate
• Mine Overseers Certificate Part A (preferred)

Required Work Experience

• 3‑5 Years’ underground mining experience
• 2 Years as Shift Boss
• Underground mining expertise

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct start‑of‑shift staff planning and provide instruction to miners
• Monitor processes and procedures during shift to ensure compliance with SOPs, COPs, and production targets
• Check stock levels and order stock to ensure required materials are available for shift
• Prevent and report on breakdowns, damages, and wastage of material and resources
• Oversee the health and safety of subordinate staff in work area
• Conduct end‑of‑shift safety, compliance, and reporting procedures
• Provide feedback for use in reports
• Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
