Job description
Overview

The Service Technician is responsible for providing customer service and maintenance functions to Loram customers within a specific region. Maintaining unit uptime to customer expectations is critical to customer satisfaction, railroad fuel economy, and railroad's wheel / rail life.

Essential Job Functions
  • Build customer and supplier relations for improved products and services.
  • Work with Sales Department to ensure customer expectations are met.
Functional / Technical Skills
  • Service top of rail and gauge face lubricator units to specified guidelines.
  • Perform lubrication service program for railroad customers.
  • Use logic and methods to solve problems to find effective solutions.
  • Understand and adhere to general railroad and Loram operating rules.
Managing and Measuring Work
  • Manage inventory held on maintenance vehicle through company processes.
  • Plan work based on length and task difficulty, develop schedules, and anticipate and adjust for problems to meet objectives.
  • Work independently.
Written Communication
  • Process work orders and complete all necessary delivery tickets, warranty paperwork, and returns through approved company processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Licenses / Certifications: Maintain railroad safety training and certifications; Ability to obtain a CDL.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical.
  • Experience: 1+ years of Field service experience with customer facing role; 2+ years working in a railroad environment, Field service, and Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions
  • % travel.
  • Ability to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to apply high levels of cognitive, analytical, retention and reasoning.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong physical capabilities.
  • Can tolerate variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions during visits or inspections in a railroad environment.

Compensation

Starting pay for the position is between $

Loram determines compensation based on skills, competencies, education, and / or experience.

Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
