Job summary

A leading equipment service provider in South Africa seeks an experienced technician to supervise the rebuild team. Job description
Key Outputs
  • Ensure supervision of the rebuild team on-site.
  • 5 years HMS experience on RH340 and 6060.
  • Ensure the service work is carried out in compliance with the quality standards and original equipment manufacturer guidelines.
  • Apply warranty policies and procedures including warranty decisions and service warranty investigations.
  • Resolve internal customer queries, manage and arrange on-site repairs on the equipment.
  • Uphold KPI’s of machines and put action plan in place.
  • Manage the component warranty claims and ensure effective communication between team and management.
  • Reporting of team KPI’s and prospects.
  • Create job initiation (WRQ).
  • Fill in failure reports and sign off job cards and time sheets.
  • Schedule major component change outs according to plan.
  • Always ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations of customers and BWE.
  • Provide technical advice to the Artisan and customers - critical.
  • Follow up on Jobs that are out for repairs.
  • Manage WIP and debtors.
  • Capture signed quotes and failure reports on customer system.
  • Perform periodic standby / overtime and call out’s.
  • Obtain current pit license and ensure that it is always valid.
  • Create condition Monitoring and equipment detailed inspection reports.
  • Create Job Initiation (WRQ), write Parts on WRQ to order parts for customer.
  • Complete timesheets (verify / sign off). manual and pay space.
  • Fill in failure reports / damage reports.
  • Check & sign off job cards & time sheets.
  • Ensure commission documentation is in place for every BWE component.
  • Conduct fluid sampling and feedback according to required standard, only for equipment under BWE warranty.
  • Schedule major component change outs according to customer plan.
  • Read and understand technical manuals & hydraulic schematics.
  • Perform hydraulic system fault finding check & basic electric fault identification & engine fault finding.
  • Identify systems of operator abuse and report.
  • Ensure basic knowledge of welding.
  • Ensure basic knowledge of rigging and certification.
  • Carry legal appointments 2.9.2, 74 and acting 2.6.1.
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
  • Matric and qualified artisan (Mechanic in relevant trade e.g., Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, millwright with minimum five years post-apprentice / learnership experience).
  • Sound MS Office knowledge (SAP; CRM; SIS & ET experience will be an advantage).
  • Code 8 driver’s license.
  • Sound business communication and presentation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of safety rules and regulations (Minerals Act / Mine health and safety act).
  • 5 years’ work experience of CAT machines.
  • A formal maintenance experience on CAT machines.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written).
  • Legal appointment training 2.9.2 and acting 2.6.1 advantageous.
  • Previous supervisor 3 years’ experience.
  • Medical fit and need to pass customers medicals.
  • Able to work without direct supervision.
  • Friendly and confident manner.
  • Good personal presentation.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Neat, presentable and professional.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work at a detailed level.
