SEO & GEO Specialist (Search & Generative Engine Optimisation)

Location: Remote
Reports to: Head of Digital

About us: We are a health focused creative communications agency that helps organisations simplify their messaging, amplify that message’s reach and ignite their customers ability to take action. We bring together strategy, storytelling, design, and digital marketing to create ideas that ignite growth. We’re now expanding our digital capability and are seeking a Search and Generative Engine Optimisation (SEO & GEO) Specialist to strengthen our own online presence and build a new service offering for clients. This is a hands-on, forward-looking role at the intersection of SEO, AI, and content strategy — ideal for someone who loves to experiment, measure impact, and translate insights into tangible results.

The Opportunity:

  1. Internal: Lead Explosive Brands’ own SEO and GEO transformation — improving visibility across both traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven platforms.
  2. External: Build and deliver a repeatable, scalable SEO & GEO framework that can be offered to clients as a retained or project-based service.

You’ll be working closely with our strategy, content, and creative teams to shape how brands are discovered, understood, and recommended by both people and generative engines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Phase 1: (Internal Focus)
  • Conduct full SEO and GEO audits of our website and content ecosystem.
  • Identify keyword opportunities for both organic search and generative AI responses.
  • Optimise site structure, metadata, schema, and on-page content for enhanced discoverability in traditional and AI-powered search results.
  • Research and experiment with Generative Engine Optimisation techniques — including prompt-based testing, entity optimiser, semantic relevance, and authoritative content structuring.
  • Develop a content strategy aligned to our positioning that performs across both search and generative results.
  • Build and maintain performance dashboards using GA4, Search Console, and AI search analytics tools.
  1. Phase 2: Client-Facing (Service Development)
  • Define, document, and package Explosive Brands’ SEO & GEO offering.
  • Deliver technical SEO, keyword research, and content strategies for clients.
  • Advise clients on optimising for AI-driven discovery, including entity-based content creation and structured data strategies.
  • Collaborate with content, PR, and creative teams to ensure campaigns are search and AI-visible from the outset.
  • Report clearly on results and emerging opportunities from traditional and generative search ecosystems.
  • Educate clients and internal teams through training sessions and thought-leadership on GEO trends and best practice.
Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, ideally across both agency and client-side roles.
  • Strong understanding of Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and its relationship with evolving search technologies (Google SGE, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Bing Copilot).
  • Demonstrated experience with technical SEO, on-page optimisation, and content strategy.
  • Familiarity with semantic SEO, entity optimisation, and structured data.
  • Confident with SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console.
  • Competent in using GA4, Tag Manager, Looker Studio, and Excel/Sheets for reporting and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/WordPress for implementing optimisations.
  • Ability to communicate complex SEO and GEO concepts in simple, actionable language.

Desirable

  • Experience building or scaling digital service lines in a small agency environment.
  • Awareness of AI content generation tools and their ethical and practical implications.
  • Experience with content clustering, schema design, and knowledge graph optimisation.
  • Understanding of how SEO interacts with content marketing, social, and paid media.
  • Interest in data storytelling, automation, and prompt-based research.
