A global content production company in Johannesburg is seeking a Senior Versioning Editor. This role involves leading the localization of creative content across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Film Production and 3-5 years of experience in video editing and post-production. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects is essential. This full-time position offers the opportunity to manage complex projects in a dynamic environment.
Join us in Johannesburg, South Africa as a Senior Versioning Editor to lead adaptation and localization of creative content across platforms and regions.
Lead the end-to-end versioning process for a high volume of creative assets (e.g., commercials, promos, social videos, digital ads, long‑form content).
Oversee the adaptation of master assets into multiple language versions, regional cuts, and platform‑specific formats.
Manage the integration of localized elements including: replacing on‑screen text, swapping localized graphics and animations, incorporating translated voiceovers and dubs, and integrating localized music and sound effects; adjust timings and pacing to language requirements.
Ensure all localized content preserves original creative intent and brand integrity.
Collaborate with local and global teams; report to the Executive Producer and work with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Adhere to technical specifications for various delivery platforms (aspect ratios, frame rates, codecs, bitrates, audio levels, safe areas, and legal disclaimers).
Perform quality control (QC) checks on all outgoing versions to identify and fix visual, audio, or technical issues. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to file formats, codecs, and delivery requirements.
Organize, manage, and archive master and versioned assets in our DAM system. Ensure proper naming conventions and metadata tagging for easy retrieval.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Broadcast Media, Digital Media, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: 3‑5 years in video editing and post‑production, with at least 3 years focused on versioning, localization, or broadcast delivery.
Portfolio/reel demonstrating expertise in multiple video formats and understanding of technical delivery requirements.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; strong proficiency in Adobe After Effects; knowledge of codecs, formats, aspect ratios, frame rates, color spaces.
Experience with media encoding / transcoding tools (e.g., Adobe Media Encoder, Telestream Vantage, DaVinci Resolve).
Familiarity with DAM systems; knowledge of broadcast delivery specs (DPP, AS‑11) and digital ad platform requirements (Google Ads, Meta Ads).
Experience with localization workflows and tools (subtitling software, translation management systems) is a plus.
Attention to detail; strong problem‑solving and proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong analytical skills to interpret technical specifications and troubleshoot issues.
