Job summary

Old Mutual in Johannesburg seeks an experienced Senior Underwriter to lead a team of underwriting professionals and manage large or complex risks. The role emphasizes conformance to underwriting policies, liaison with brokers and clients, and mentorship of junior staff.

Ideal candidates will have a Commerce qualification (NQF 6-7), fluency in English, strong communication skills, and a Financial background. RE5 and a valid driver’s license are advantaged. Closing date 31 August 2026.

Qualifications

• Matric and a tertiary qualification in Commerce (NQF Level 6-7 or equivalent).
• Proficiency in Excel & Word.
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
• Ability to manage a large workload within time constraints.
• Financial background and RE5 advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manages several underwriting professionals.
• Reviews and ensures conformance with underwriting policies, guidelines, and procedures by subordinate underwriters.

Qualifications
