• Experience with SDN/NFV, automation and orchestration is desirable
• Excellent presentation and remote communication skills

Our client is seeking a visionary and experienced Senior Telecoms Solutions Architect to lead the design and evolution of their telecommunications infrastructure. This is a prestigious, fully remote position that allows you to leverage your extensive expertise to shape cutting-edge solutions from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into scalable, resilient, and cost-effective technical architectures. This role demands a deep understanding of current and future telecom technologies, including 5G, IoT, cloud-native networking, and SDN/NFV. As a key technical leader, you will guide project teams, collaborate with vendors, and drive innovation within a globally distributed and remote-first organization focused on technological excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end technical solutions for new telecommunications services and platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical strategies.
• Develop architectural blueprints, high-level designs, and technical specifications for complex network deployments.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and vendor solutions to enhance network capabilities and performance.
• Lead technical discussions with stakeholders, including product management, engineering, and operations teams.
• Provide expert guidance on scalability, security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of proposed solutions.
• Mentor junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation in a remote setting.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications network design and architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of 5G core, LTE, IMS, IP networking, cloud computing, and virtualization technologies.
• Proven ability to architect complex solutions involving multiple technologies and domains.
• Experience with SDN/NFV, automation, and orchestration platforms is highly desirable.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences remotely.
