Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecom Network Engineer for our client in Bloemfontein, focusing on design, deployment and maintenance of advanced telecom networks. You will drive reliability, scalability and performance of regional services, collaborating with operations, sales and support to align network capabilities with business goals.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in telecom networking, strong know-how of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and MPLS, and hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper/Huawei

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications network engineering.
• Proficiency with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS and related telecom protocols.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper and Huawei equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy scalable telecom networks (fiber, cellular, microwave).

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of current network technologies and a proven track record of successfully managing complex network projects. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy robust and scalable telecommunications networks, including fiber optic, cellular, and microwave systems.
• Perform network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to resolve issues promptly.
• Develop and implement network security measures to protect against threats and ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and customer support, to align network capabilities with business objectives.
• Manage network upgrade projects, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
• Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications network engineering.
• Proficiency in network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and others relevant to telecom environments.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Huawei).
• Strong understanding of wireless technologies (4G/5G) and/or fiber optics.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Experience with network simulation and analysis tools is a plus.
