Job Summary / Overview
To machine and manufacture products, as per the approved drawings in the Engineering Department. In-house machine maintenance/ repairs/ breakdowns and inspections. Inspections, repairs and load testing of equipment at customer sites. Providing the customers with safe products and material handling solutions that meets their requirements and exceeds their expectations. Machining and milling to tolerances as per drawing request. Assembly and testing of mechanical and hydraulic equipment. Workshop compliance and other duties. Good housekeeping practice. Stock control and rotation of goods. Ad hoc functions in the workshop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- To machine and manufacture products, as per the approved drawings in the Engineering Department
- In-house machine maintenance/ repairs/ breakdowns and inspections
- Inspections, repairs and load testing of equipment at customer sites
- Providing the customers with safe products and material handling solutions that meets their requirements and exceeds their expectations
- Machining and milling to tolerances as per drawing request
- Assembly and testing of mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Workshop compliance and other duties
- Good housekeeping practice
- Stock control and rotation of goods
- Ad hoc functions in the workshop
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Must have general knowledge of machining and milling process
- Knowledge of electrical systems, quick fault finding on PLC and Micro link Systems, Variable speed drives and overhead cranes
- Able to assist with identifying electrical components for the sales team to understand and prepare quotes
- Product applications on lifting equipment will be added advantage
- Exceptional knowledge on fault finding on lifting equipment
- Mechanical and electrical minded
- Good knowledge of hydraulics systems
- Exceptional knowledge in the strip and repair of gearboxes, Mechanical and Electro linear actuators and general repairs in a workshop environment
- Able to read Electrical and Hydraulic drawings
- Good knowledge of electric hoists and manufactured equipment under the hook
- Able to do Hazard identification and Risk assessments on customer sites
Required Qualifications
- Registered Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) specify scope with application
- Qualified Millwright (Red Seal Certificate)
- Minimum N4 Technical certificate
- Grade 12 minimum education
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Computer Literate
- Forklift Operator / Overhead crane licence
- A minimum of 5 years working experience
- Knowledge of competitors, and Yale Products technical information will be an advantage
- Machining and milling capabilities
- Must be able to work on overhead cranes, electrical hoists and railway equipment
- Able to work long hours and travel from time to time
