Senior Systems Engineer (Optical-Electronic Systems) - Military Product Development Company Overview: A company focusing on electro-optical and machine learning developments with a casual office and a lively atmosphere.

We are currently seeking someone to join our team full-time as a Senior Systems Engineer.

Position Purpose

The purpose of the Systems Engineering position is to technically define and lead the development of complex systems across engineering disciplines.

Focus

Our company's focus is mainly related to electro-optical systems for application in the civilian and security industry but should also be suitable for limited defense applications.

Collaboration

The Systems Engineer will work jointly with Programme / Project Managers in the process of product development, as well as other engineers, contractors, and contract manufacturers.

Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Systems Engineer will include:

  • User Requirements Specification (URS) definition & negotiation
  • URS break-down into system-level requirements, architecture, and functional flow as well as managing requirements traceability
  • Producing a Systems Engineering Management Plan
  • Managing technical risk across the system lifecycle
  • Performing/contracting the necessary technical studies and simulations required for investigations into potential solutions, trade-offs, or risk mitigation
  • Defining, reviewing, and managing sub-system specifications, technical budgets, internal and external interfaces, and interoperability requirements
  • System Fabrication, Assembly, Integration, and Testing (FAIT): leading the technical teams for sub-system development, ensuring technical integrity of designs, providing technical guidance, ensuring that the systems engineering processes are adhered to, and ensuring output quality
  • Lead technical reviews (including PDR, CDR, PRR, QRR, and First Article Inspection)
  • Perform system FMEA
  • Manage safety, reliability, and logistics aspects relating to the product
  • Ensure proper baseline documentation and configuration management
  • Produce system-level test, verification, and qualification plans and oversee performance

Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor or higher Engineering Degree
  • 10 years or more engineering experience in a military product development environment
  • 3 years or more Systems Engineering experience in a military product development environment
  • System engineering of at least 1 system development project throughout the lifecycle of the system from requirements management to design to verification and qualification to providing data packs and technical support for production and product support teams
  • Practical knowledge of requirements management including experience working with stakeholders (internal and external) to elicit, analyze, and negotiate requirements
  • Experience in requirements management and the application of Validation and Verification traceability
  • Experience in Opto‑Electronic systems (e.g., DTV cameras or Infrared cameras)
