Job summary

Stellenbosch University on the Stellenbosch Campus is seeking a Senior System Administrator (Post Level 8) to join the Information Technology team. The role centers on installing, maintaining and monitoring Windows Server environments, including on‑premises and cloud platforms.

The incumbent will lead system design and security, support SQL Server, and mentor peers. After‑hours work may be required; strong communication in English or Afrikaans is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have IT experience as a system administrator with server software.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server.
• Ability to lead, transfer knowledge, and solve problems innovatively.
• Strong communication skills in Afrikaans or English.

Responsibilities

• Installation, daily maintenance and monitoring of computer systems and servers.
• Occasional after-hours system maintenance as required.
