About the Role
Our client, a globally recognized energy exploration company, is seeking an accomplished Senior Subsurface Geoscientist with specialized expertise in Seismic Interpretation to join their remote operations team. This role is critical for unlocking the potential of new and existing hydrocarbon basins. You will be responsible for the advanced interpretation of large 2D and 3D seismic datasets, leading to the identification and characterization of subsurface geological structures and potential reservoirs. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned geoscientist to contribute to high-impact exploration and appraisal projects, collaborate with a world-class team, and leverage cutting-edge technologies from a remote location. Our company fosters a culture of innovation and provides ample opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed seismic data processing and interpretation, including velocity analysis, attribute analysis, and horizon tracking.
- Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and geological models to build robust 3D subsurface representations.
- Identify, delineate, and map potential hydrocarbon traps (structural and stratigraphic).
- Assess reservoir presence, quality, and potential hydrocarbon fill based on integrated subsurface data.
- Collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and geophysicists to provide comprehensive subsurface understanding.
- Conduct risk assessments and quantify uncertainties associated with exploration targets identified through seismic analysis.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, maps, and presentations for exploration reviews and decision-making processes.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and share expertise in seismic interpretation techniques.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation technologies and methodologies.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related geoscience discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in seismic interpretation within the oil and gas industry.
- Extensive experience with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, GeoDepth, OpendTect).
- Proven ability to interpret complex geological settings, including salt tectonics, deepwater plays, and conventional/unconventional reservoirs.
- Strong understanding of seismic processing principles and their impact on interpretation.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in data visualization and presentation techniques.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, suitable for a remote team environment.
- Experience in prospect generation and risking is highly desirable.
