About the Role

Our client, a renowned architectural and engineering firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer with specialized expertise in high-rise buildings to join their prestigious team in Sandton, Gauteng . This role is central to the design and execution of iconic, complex tall building projects across South Africa and internationally. You will lead structural design efforts, manage project teams, and collaborate closely with architects and developers to bring visionary designs to life. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of advanced structural analysis techniques, innovative material applications, and seismic design principles applicable to tall structures. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of high-rise buildings, from conceptualization through to construction documentation.
• Perform advanced structural analysis and design using state-of-the-art software for complex geometries and loading conditions.
• Develop innovative and efficient structural systems for tall buildings, considering factors like wind, seismic forces, and vertical transportation.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Collaborate extensively with architects, facade engineers, MEP engineers, and other consultants to integrate structural design seamlessly.
• Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers and technicians working on high-rise projects.
• Conduct site visits during construction to provide structural engineering support and address any issues.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, standards (e.g., SANS, Eurocodes), and best practices.
• Contribute to the development of new design methodologies and standards within the firm.
• Interface directly with clients, contractors, and authorities during project lifecycles.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 5 years focused specifically on the design of high-rise buildings (above 20 stories).
• Demonstrated experience with advanced structural analysis software like ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of seismic design, wind engineering, and foundation design for tall structures.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex high-rise projects.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and client communication skills.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies for tall buildings.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple demanding projects simultaneously in Sandton.
• Familiarity with international building codes and standards is a plus.
