A leading engineering consultancy in Cape Town seeks a Senior Professional Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership in the Structural Engineering team. The candidate must have a minimum of 15 years of experience and be registered with ECSA as a PrEng. We are looking to recruit a Senior Professional Structural Engineer to fulfil the role of Technical Lead in MCF & Industry in South Africa teams, which are looking to recruit to expand and develop their South Africa‑based Structural Engineering team to assist with our growing workload.
Professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng is required.
Knowledge of BIM processes (ISO) and implementation.
Further development of technical standards, libraries, templates, processes, etc.
Drives quality and efficiency improvements.
Preparation of designs for and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs.
Ensure that the structures are designed to meet the necessary building codes and standards.
This includes the design of foundations, structural steel, concrete, and other structural elements.
Work closely with other discipline teams involved in the design process, including mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, and project managers.
Be responsible for providing technical expertise in civil and structural engineering.
Be expected to be up to date with the latest technologies and industry standards.
Ensure that all project milestones are met on time and within budget.
Manage the project schedule, budget, and resources.
Production of design calculations, including using 3D modelling software, checking, and reviewing of calculations produced by others.
Producing sketch drawings / details for drawing / modelling by others and complete checking and reviewing of these prior to issue.
Preparation of specifications and assistance with contract documents.
Conduct inspections and surveys, prepare reports, perform structural analysis, and reporting.
Ensure that the structural teams contribute to the achievement of project goals.
Manage the structures team's project quality, schedule, budget, and resources.
Communicate the status of projects to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad‑hoc and formal basis.
