Job summary

A recruitment agency is looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator with 5 to 8 years of experience. The role involves administering SQL databases in multiple environments and requires strong documentation skills. This is a remote-based position with a flexible hourly rate, but candidates must have their own hardware and attend weekly meetings in Durban or virtually if located outside the area.

Job description

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years experience
• SQL Data Base Administration experience on multiple servers and environments
• Experience with High availability server solutions
• Replication experience
• Upgrading of SQL servers experience
• General security, RBAC and Row Level Security required
• Backup and management of files and database storage space and file sizes is critical
• Ability to monitor and identify problem areas
• Managing governance and documenting SQL
• Administering both cloud and on prem SQL
• ADVANTAGEOUS: AI Skills with RAG
• ADVANTAGEOUS: Certification in SQL Database Administration
• ADVANTAGEOUS: DevOps SQL development and management
• HOURS: 20 hours a week (more to follow based on customer interest)
• Rate Per Hour negotiable

Remote-based and must have own hardware. A weekly meeting in Durban will happen (or virtually if based outside the Greater Durban area).

Strong SOP and Documentation skills and ability to work with DevOps or GitHub advantageous. Must be able to work independently and proactively.
