Principal Specialist – Cyber Security Networks

Location: Onsite – Midrand, South Africa

Industry: Telecoms

Contract: 6 months (extendable)

We are seeking an experienced Principal Specialist in Cyber Security Networks to lead advanced security initiatives across mobile, fixed, satellite, cloud, and IoT environments. In this role you will design, implement and oversee robust cyber‑security controls to protect enterprise and IP networks against evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead security implementation across customer networks, ensuring resilience against sophisticated threats.
  • Drive design and execution of cyber‑security implementations across Enterprise CPE, Core Network, Network Management Systems, Office Connectivity, and related control and monitoring domains.
  • Deliver security initiatives across Enterprise CPE, Core Network, Network Management Systems, Office Connectivity, Cyber Security Controls, Monitoring & Analytics, and Measurement & Assurance.
  • Conduct risk assessments, apply targeted controls, and align with ISO, NIST and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Establish near‑real‑time threat detection and continuous security posture assessments; integrate monitoring tools such as SIEM and NetFlow.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior cyber‑security professionals; foster innovation and operational excellence.
Core Competencies, Knowledge & Experience
  • 8+ years in a cyber‑security role supporting Enterprise / IP networks.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise/fixed networks.
  • In‑depth understanding of cyber‑risk management and security frameworks (NIST, ISO, CIS Controls).
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, leadership, organisational, and communications skills.
  • Strategic mindset with ability to drive change and innovation.
Qualifications
  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential).
  • 3‑year degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology.
  • Industry certifications strongly preferred: ISO Lead Practitioner, CCIE (Security), CCSP, CGEIT, CRISC, CISA, CISM, CISSP / CSSP.
