Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in Solution Architecture, Systems Architecture, Software Engineering or Technical Design roles.
• Strong Azure architecture experience, including cloud, hybrid and integration-focused environments.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale integrations, APIs, distributed systems and data flows.
• Strong understanding of security, identity and access management, resilience, performance and operational supportability.
• Experience leading solutions from requirements through implementation and operational handover.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and guide technical decision-making at senior levels.

Responsibilities

• Assess the current application and technology landscape and identify opportunities for optimisation, modernisation and automation.
• Develop solution architectures and transition roadmaps aligned to business objectives and product strategies.
• Evaluate architectural options and make informed recommendations considering cost, risk, scalability, maintainability and time-to-value.
• Define future-state architectures and technology direction while balancing immediate business needs.
• Translate business and operational requirements into end-to-end technical solution designs.
• Design and govern integration architectures across internal applications, external partners and third-party platforms.
• Define APIs, integration patterns, data flows, security controls, resilience requirements and deployment approaches.
• Support delivery teams by providing practical architectural guidance throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Lead the design of Azure-based cloud solutions across hybrid, hosted and on-premises environments.
• Drive automation initiatives that improve quality, delivery speed and operational efficiency.
• Apply modern architecture practices, DevSecOps principles and cloud-native design patterns.
• Leverage approved AI tools responsibly to support requirements analysis, solution design and proof-of-concept development.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to provide strategic architecture leadership across our diverse healthcare technology landscape. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a seasoned architect who can evaluate complex environments, identify gaps, recommend practical solutions, and guide technology decisions that deliver immediate business value while supporting long-term strategic goals.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture and Business teams to design secure, scalable, Azure-based solutions, define integration strategies, and ensure that technology investments support both customer outcomes and operational excellence.

What You Will Be Doing:

Strategic Architecture & Advisory:

• Assess the current application and technology landscape and identify opportunities for optimisation, modernisation and automation.
• Develop solution architectures and transition roadmaps aligned to business objectives and product strategies.

Testing & Quality Strategy:

• Assess testing capabilities across desktop, web and cloud-based applications.
• Recommend future-state testing approaches, automation opportunities and sustainable quality practices.
• Provide strategic recommendations on team structures, capabilities and operating models, including scenarios involving partner transitions.
• Champion "shift-left" thinking by embedding quality, security and resilience early in the delivery lifecycle.

What We Are Looking For:

• 8+ years' experience in Solution Architecture, Systems Architecture, Software Engineering or Technical Design roles
• Proven experience assessing complex technology estates and providing strategic architectural recommendations
• Strong Azure architecture experience, including cloud, hybrid and integration-focused environments
• Experience designing enterprise-scale integrations, APIs, distributed systems and data flows
• Strong understanding of security, identity and access management, resilience, performance and operational supportability
• Experience leading solutions from requirements through implementation and operational handover
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and guide technical decision-making at senior levels

• TOGAF, ArchiMate or Azure Architect certifications.

Location: Woodmead, Johannesburg

Work Model: Hybrid (initially office-based for approximately the first 3 months to build relationships and understand the environment, thereafter a hybrid arrangement may be considered)

Contract Duration: Initial 6-month contract, with potential extension based on performance and project requirements
