Job summary

WatersEdge Solutions seeks a Head of Software Engineering in Johannesburg to lead a team in enhancing the software development lifecycle for both internal systems and customer-facing applications. This role combines technical leadership in a .NET/C# environment with hands-on involvement, overseeing Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

The ideal candidate will have over 9 years of software development experience, a strong background in building SDLC processes, and exceptional leadership skills.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in software development with progression into technical leadership.
• Deep current expertise in the .NET / C# ecosystem.
• Proven experience building mature SDLC processes from an immature baseline.
• Strong DevOps background, including CI/CD, release automation, and configuration management.
• Experience defining and implementing test strategy, unit testing, and test automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the full SDLC across planning, development, QA, release, and support.
• Establish repeatable, well-documented engineering processes.
• Drive Agile/Scrum delivery with effective ceremonies.
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines for build, integration, and deployment.
• Manage, mentor, and grow the engineering team.
