Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services using Python with Django or Flask. This fully remote position offers autonomy to contribute to core product development and to support our growing client base, including teams in Soweto and greater Gauteng.

You will develop RESTful APIs, manage databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB), implement tests, and participate in architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend software development using Python.
• Proven experience with Python web frameworks such as Django or Flask.
• Strong understanding of API design principles (RESTful) and building/consuming APIs.
• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Django/Flask.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to define requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs for frontend and third-party integrations.

Requirements

• Proven experience with Python web frameworks such as Django or Flask.
• Strong understanding of API design principles (RESTful) and experience building/consuming APIs.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker) is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
